Community Lawyers Access Center
A computer center where individuals pay reasonable fees to prepare their own pleadings and pay attorneys reasonable rates to provide assessment, review paperwork, and represent them when necessary. The goal of the Access Center is to offer a comprehensive legal service center that is accessible after hours and on Saturdays, when court-based self-help centers are not available to individuals who work regular business hours. CLI invites lawyers, paralegals, law students, social workers, psychologists, educators, community leaders and professionals to inquire about how they can contribute to such an important project. The CLAC is located at 1216 East Compton Boulevard, Compton, CA 90221. For center hours and other information please call (310) 635-8182. Community Lawyers Inc. hosted a Domestic Violence Workshop at Casa De Familia in the city of Santa Ana in an effort to bring awareness to the issue. Domestic violence can be defined as a pattern of behavior in any relationship that is used to gain or maintain power and control over an intimate partner. Abuse can happen to anyone and comes in many different forms. According to SAHARA's website, 1 IN 4 women, 1 IN 9 men in the United States are victims of domestic violence at some point in their lives. If you or a love one are a victim of domestic violence please remember that you are not alone and there is help and legal remedies out there!
Community Lawyers, Inc. has launched the Community Lawyers Access Center (CLAC) in the City of Compton where individuals, small businesses and nonprofits who are not currently served by legal aid organizations and cannot afford market legal rates can access assistance on civil legal matters.
